Dear Chief Editor,

We are writing this letter on behalf of the organizing and scientific committee of our future congress – ANAESTHESIA 2018 – 15th Congress of Anesthesiology and Ιntensive Medicine, Thessaloniki, Greece (20-23 Sept, 2018)  – and kindly ask you to announce and communicate our congress in the ESA newsletter.

ANAESTHESIA 2018 is a top Greek Anaesthesiology event:

  • Updating on current and pressing issues of Anaesthesiology
  • Continuing Medical and Postgraduate Education
  • Becoming a tribune for both Central and Regional Anaesthesiology Departments
  • Widening the horizons of anaesthesiology within the context of Perioperative Medicine
  • Addressing topics and skills that interest/concern nursing staff.

An endeavour is being attempted to give this Congress an international character, not only at the level of established and well-known foreign invited speakers, but furthermore in terms of attracting a new international audience.

Prof. Stefan de Hert has accepted our invitation to address the delegates in his capacity of ESA President, along with a very interesting lecture.

Prof. Radmilo Jankovic, ESA Secretary, has already accepted our invitation to be a guest speaker at the Congress.

Prof. J. Melick-Olsen, WFSA President, will give a lecture and address the delegates as well.

We believe that Thessaloniki may constitute a pole of attraction for anaesthetists from the nearest to the furthest European or non-European countries, combined with its ever-emerging character as a top tourist destination of south-east Europe. In this way the Greek delegates will be able to meet and exchange scientific views with foreign colleagues, while Greek speakers will be given the opportunity to appeal to a wider international audience.

It is in this context that the 1st Greek-Serbian Anesthesiology Meeting integrates into ANAESTHESIA 2018. With our fellow neighbours we share not only a close friendship but a common understanding of problems encountered and achievable goals. Therefore, a broader cooperation initiative may only be fruitful for both parties.

At the Congress, clinical tutorials, workshops, lectures, round table discussions, poster and oral presentations, as well as a display of pharmaceutical and anaesthesiology equipment will be included.

The English version of our congress website is available, including details for abstract submission; a big part of the Congress program will be in English.

With kind regards,

Eleni Katsika,                                              Konstantinos Katsanoulas
