On 1 September  2017 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in Buenos Aires between the Association of Anesthesia, Analgesia and Resuscitation of Buenos Aires (AAARBA and The European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA).

With this historical agreement AAARBA and ESA express their wish to establish an exchange programme for cultural development, international cooperation, and exchange of scientific knowledge in anaesthesiology in association with their respective Annual Meetings and other relevant educational programmes and activities.

The AAARBA also signed the Helsinki Declaration on Patient Safety in Anaesthesiology. This document on Patient Safety was already adopted in the past by FAAAR, the Federation of Argentinian Anaesthesia Societies, and now in Buenos Aires, on the occasion of the Congress on Patient Safety organized by AAARBA, a symbolic adoption by this organisation strengthens their commitment to patient safety.

This fruitful collaboration between the two societies started a couple of years ago with the launching of Buenos Aires as a centre for EDAIC (European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care) and later with the OLA (On Line Assessment), which today was adopted by AAARBA as an educational-assessment tool for all residents.

(Regarding the history; activities and projects of AAARBA, Carlos Romero: carlos.romero@anestesia.org.ar and Marcelo Campos: damar54@yahoo.com can can give you more details.)

The stakeholders of AAARBA are: Dr Claudio Tartaglia Pulcini – President; Dr Carlos Carbajal – Vice President; Dr Daniel Marcelo Campos – Secretary of Science and Technology; Dr Saul Sorotsky – Treasurer.
